JUNIOR PAVEMENT ANALYST/PAVEMENT TECHNICIAN

GEMTEC is a growing firm with offices throughout Atlantic Canada and Ontario, and we are looking for a motivated Junior Pavement Analyst/Pavement Technician to join our Team. We currently have an opening for a full time Junior Pavement Analyst/Pavement Technician in our Oshawa office.
The successful candidate will have the following:

EDUCATIONAL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completion of a recognized bachelor’s degree or diploma in civil engineering.
  • Eligible for registration with Professional Engineers Ontario (P.Eng.) or OACETT (C.E.T).
  • Familiarity with pavement design methods including AASHTO 93 and AASHTOWare Pavement ME.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic consulting environment that requires flexibility and the willingness to work overtime, as required.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication and organizational skills

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in the following:

  • Provide technical support to a wide variety of pavement and geotechnical engineering projects, including the preparation and supervision of field programs, data collection, data analysis, technical report writing, and proposal preparation.
  • Completing field investigations within Eastern or Northern Ontario for extended periods.
  • Hand augering and sample collection (significant manual labour component)
  • Design and conduct field investigations including pavement structure and asphalt core logging, test pit logging, as well as associated field coordination and sub-contractor coordination.
  • Assisting intermediate and senior staff in preparing proposals and cost estimates, and writing technical reports presenting field findings, data analysis results, recommendations, etc.
  • Assisting intermediate and senior staff in performing design and analytical functions on projects involving pavement rehabilitation and widening design and treatment of pavement distress areas.
  • Ability and willingness to complete night work on highways
