Description:

We are looking for an enthusatic and motivated person to join our dynamic Nuclear Medicine department at Coventry. The role will support the physics team; managing set-up and radioactive decontamination for molecular radiotherapies, managing the contamination monitor and gamma probe QC programme, assisting with radioactive waste audits and disposals, and lots more!
The department is going through an equipment refresh, with an Omni Legend 32 PET scanner due for installation in the next couple of months, a Starguide going in by the end of August and a third gamma camera being replaced in October. We undertake SIRT, Lu-177 Dota and PSMA moelcular radioatherapies, as well as I-131 ablation and thyrotoxicosis therapy. We’re involved in several research projects, including a UK first trial of a mobile PET CT scanner in theatres for margin assessment during tumour excision.
Our friendly team comprises of administrative staff, nurses, technologists, radiographers, physicists, healthcare assistants and radiologists.
The post would suit physics graduates looking for experience prior to medical physics STP application.
1.Provide operational and scientific support to the Nuclear Medicine service.
2.Undertake procedures in accordance to the quality assurance program for Nuclear Medicine equipment, taking responsibility for the safe use of complex and valuable imaging equipment. The programme has to be scheduled around equipment availability and must be regularly adapted according to clinical workload and breakdowns.
3.Assist with all aspects of the department’s radiation protection commitments including contamination monitoring, radioactive decontamination and radioactive waste disposal.
4.Assist with collecting and collating data relevant to providing a Nuclear Medicine service.
