JUNIOR PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATES – PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Junior Professionals Associate Program (JPA) offers an exceptional opportunity for recent graduates to embark on a professional journey, providing a three-year contract with valuable work experience within a diverse and dynamic environment and the potential of field work experience. The program is an excellent platform to sharpen your existing skills and to develop new ones, all while gaining a profound understanding of the challenges associated with reducing poverty and fostering shared prosperity on a livable planet.

The following are minimum requirements to be eligible for the JPA program:

  • Be 32 years of age or younger
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree
  • Be fluent in English

The JPA program at the World Bank is a highly competitive initiative. SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in statistical software and economic modeling.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

Responsibilities:

The Junior Professional Associate will support the World Bank’s initiatives in the GCC countries, contributing to economic analysis and project implementation. (S)he will support the program of the Prosperity group in the GCC countries, which covers four Global Practices, working on areas related to macro-fiscal stabilization, private and financial sector development, governance, poverty and procurement.

The Junior Professional Associate will assist in the economic analysis and policy dialogue with GCC countries authorities, working on the advisory program and other related assignments. The core tasks involve providing analytical support, contributing to advisory work, and assisting in projects preparation and supervision. The goal is to support the World Bank’s mission through informed economic policies and practices.

  • Economic Analysis and Research
  • Conduct economic research and analysis on topics relevant to the GCC countries, including but not limited to macroeconomic trends, fiscal policy, labor markets, private sector development, innovation and sectoral developments.
  • Collect, process, and analyze economic data from various sources to support research activities.
  • Contribute to the development of economic models and forecasting tools.
  • Assist in the preparation of economic reports, policy notes, and other publications.
  • Policy Support and Dialogue
  • Provide analytical support to World Bank teams engaged in policy dialogue with GCC governments.
  • Assist in the preparation of policy briefs and presentations for meetings with government officials and stakeholders.
  • Participate in and contribute to discussions on economic policy issues with counterparts in the GCC countries.
  • Project Preparation and Supervision
  • Support the preparation and implementation of World Bank projects in the GCC region.
  • Assist in drafting project documents, including project proposals, implementation plans, and progress reports.
  • Participate in project missions and field visits as required.
  • Capacity Building and Knowledge Sharing
  • Support capacity-building initiatives for counterparts in GCC countries.
  • Contribute to knowledge-sharing activities, including organizing workshops, seminars, and training sessions.
