Your cover letter and resume must clearly demonstrate how you meet the following qualifications:
- Knowledge of geotechnical investigation, instrumentation, and field and laboratory testing methods.
- Knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles and analyses.
Conditions of Employment:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must be able to work overtime including weekends and be able to be away from home for extended periods
- Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering. Registered or eligible for registration as an Engineering Intern with the Association of Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (EGM).
- Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence
- Must be able to do frequent visits to work sites within the province by ground and air which may require overnight stays (possibly in a camp environment). Site visits may be in isolated areas and / or areas with poor reception.
- While at outdoor work sites including water, exposure to construction equipment, traffic, fabrication plants, noise, dust, hand/power tools, moving equipment, slip-trip-fall, carrying/twisting, insects, and vegetation & sharp objects.
- Exposure to driving in difficult terrain and extreme weather conditions. Working outdoors in both winter and summer in extreme temperatures. Working near or in-water
- Physical Effort: Continuous standing, Continuous walking, Climbing, Lifting and carrying (0-50 lbs)
- Satisfactory Certificate of medical fitness

Duties:
Under the supervision of the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, the Junior Project Engineer (Geotechnical Engineering Intern) is responsible for performing technical work related to the preservation, design and construction of provincial waterway infrastructure including: condition inspection; geotechnical drilling; geotechnical instrumentation installation and monitoring; emergency flood response; preliminary and detailed geotechnical design; tender preparation; preparation of design and construction drawings; planning studies; project management; and contract administration and construction inspection functions while adhering to Department standards, policies, and specifications.
