BOXX Modular (Canada), a business of Black Diamond Group, rents, leases and sells temporary and permanent modular buildings, including standard buildings ready for immediate delivery and custom-designed solutions. We work with our customers to design and deliver customized solutions, and provide additional services such as delivery and installation, furniture rentals and other add-ons.
BOXX Modular is hiring for a full-time position for a Jr Project Manager, the successful candidate will be located in our Calgary, AB, Langley, BC or Edmonton, AB branch.
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Junior Project Manager is an office-based position with expected travel when projects are ongoing. The Junior Project Manager will support the Project Management team in all facets of project delivery.
Key responsibilities include assisting in the development and maintenance of project plans and schedules, facilitating communication and providing regular updates to all stakeholders, coordinating with vendors to ensure timely delivery of project components, and monitoring project budgets and expenses. Additionally, the role involves managing project changes and ensuring proper documentation and approval, maintaining comprehensive project records, and assisting with final project activities and evaluations. These tasks aim to ensure smooth and efficient project execution and successful completion.
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 2-3 years of project management experience, complemented by a strong background in customer service. They must demonstrate excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently, and a proactive approach to problem-solving by bringing solutions to the table. Additionally, the candidate should be a good cultural fit within the team, contributing positively to the overall work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of experience in Construction, preferably with established firms and a focus on modular construction.
  • Diploma in Construction Management, PMP designation, and/or undergraduate studies from an accredited college or university considered assets.
  • Solid foundation in building construction concepts, with entry-level understanding of project financial basics, time management, and managerial skills required; mentorship provided by Project Manager and Project Management team.
  • Experience in conflict resolution.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Team player willing to contribute as needed.
  • Proficient in PC operations in a Windows environment (MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, Project).
  • Strong ability to organize, prioritize, and multitask effectively.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in pricing projects for the sales team by obtaining multiple quotes from trusted vendors to ensure competitive pricing and vendor availability for projects.
  • Review tender packages, provide comprehensive feedback to the team, assess completeness, accuracy, and feasibility, identify potential issues or areas for improvement, and ensure all documents meet required standards and project specifications.
  • Upon project award, aid in developing and coordinating project plans and schedules, tracking progress, updating plans as necessary, and preparing comprehensive project documentation such as tracking spreadsheets, schedules, and status reports.
  • Facilitate effective communication among project team members, stakeholders, and clients, including preparing and distributing meeting agendas, minutes, and action items. Provide regular project status updates to senior project managers and stakeholders, and promptly address any issues or concerns raised.
  • Assist in resource allocation and monitoring for project tasks, ensuring efficient utilization, identifying and resolving potential resource constraints. Identify project risks and issues, develop mitigation plans and contingency strategies, and maintain oversight by monitoring and reporting on their status.
  • Maintain project budget integrity by closely monitoring expenditures, comparing them against forecasts, and reviewing all subcontractor LEMs (Labor, Equipment, and Materials) and bills for accuracy and compliance with contractual agreements.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet established quality standards through conducting project reviews and quality assurance checks. Identify improvement opportunities and propose corrective actions as needed.
  • Manage project changes by maintaining thorough documentation, promptly updating plans and schedules, and effectively communicating changes to team members and stakeholders.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including plans, schedules, reports, and change order logs, ensuring they are well-organized and readily accessible.
  • Support project closeout activities by finalizing documentation, securing approvals, and conducting evaluations to capture lessons learned.
  • Ensure timely completion and acceptance of all project deliverables by stakeholders during the project closeout phase.
  • Conduct site visits as required, including out-of-town site visits, to monitor progress, ensure compliance with project specifications, and address any on-site issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.
