Description:

Our client, a state body, are currently recruiting for an Junior Project Manager to join their Capital & Estates Department in the Galway.
This is an initial 2-year Contract Role with great potential for further extension.
This role provides a range of professional, technical, project management, property, energy , sustainability, fire and safety and related services in respect of the procurement, development, operation and maintenance of the client’s physical infrastructure – including lands, buildings, plant and equipment.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Level 8 (or higher) academic qualification in Architecture, Engineering, or Surveying, accredited by the relevant professional institute, or
  • Membership in one of the following professional associations:
  • Society of Chartered Surveyors in Ireland
  • Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors
  • Engineers Ireland
  • Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland
  • At least two years of experience in planning, design, project management, or construction of buildings, or in the installation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and heating systems in such buildings.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  • In-depth knowledge and experience in building construction, building services, and maintenance requirements.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and familiarity with Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) Standards.
  • Proven leadership and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to facilitate and provide training for other team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and oversee both major and minor capital works within the designated area.
  • Manage specific projects, ensuring they align with the overall program, whether minor or major in scope.
  • Develop comprehensive maintenance plans for buildings, services, and equipment, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and maintenance standards for buildings, services, and equipment, as defined in approved programs.
  • Work closely with the Property Manager to maintain property protocols, including assessing the organization’s property portfolio and ensuring adherence to statutory regulations.
  • Establish and implement fire prevention measures in coordination with the Fire & Safety Officer.
  • Provide guidance on energy efficiency, collaborating with service personnel and advisors to optimize energy usage across organizational facilities.
  • Offer expertise on facilities and environmental issues, working alongside service personnel, Capital & Estates teams, and advisors.
