What you will be doing
As a Junior Real Estate Accountant, you will assist the Finance and Accounting team with the handling of corporate financing and general accounting and managing and reporting on financial data. This will include management of month end closing procedures, T4A and T4A filing. This position operates in a cross functional role capacity supporting other departments related to managing tasks that transition from deal transactions through to agent commission payouts. You’ll provide support to team members along with other partnering departments.

Skills and experience needed for success

  • 1-3+ years of professional experience with a background in accounting completing full cycle accounting and financial reporting.
  • 2+ years of recent experience working with real estate accounting procedures.
  • Expert knowledge of Lone Wolf and Quickbooks would be an asset.
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting, business administration or has completed a college program in accounting/bookkeeping or a related field is preferred.
  • Tech savviness and proficiency working in Excel and Word.
  • To get a head start, the following experience would be useful but not required:
  • Working at a tech scale-up
  • Real estate or fintech secto

Responsibilities:

  • Monthly reconciliations
  • Bank accounts
  • Credit cards
  • Expensify expense management
  • Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable collection procedures
  • General Real Estate Accounting
  • Maintain comprehensive and up to date filing systems related to all accounting functions
  • Prepare and submit accurate General Ledger entries into Lone Wolf
  • Lone Wolf reporting
  • Calculating agent commissions
  • Complete month end closing procedures
  • Assist with year end T4A and T4 filing
  • Auditing and adjusting entries where required
  • Vendor management and preparing associated expenditures statements
  • Prepare managerial accounting reports
  • Communicating with government offices when needed
  • Communicate effectively with managers and agents regarding deal inquiries
  • Provide support to both the Deals and Talent & Culture departments as required
  • Additional Ad hoc accounting or administrative tasks as required
