The German Diabetes Center (DDZ), Leibniz Institute for Diabetes Research at the Heinrich Heine University (HHU) Düsseldorf is an interdisciplinary research institute that links basic and clinical sciences to improve prevention, diagnosis and therapy of Diabetes mellitus and its complications. The Institute for Clinical Biochemistry and Pathobiochemistry (Director: Prof. Dr. Hadi Al-Hasani) investigates the molecular mechanisms of onset and progression of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. The study of novel mechanisms that regulate interorgan communication, referred to as “cross talk,” is a key area of research. The successful candidate will
Conduct innovative research projects related to secretomes, and the molecular mechanisms how secreted proteins (e.g. myokines, adipokines) regulate metabolism, trigger or prevent insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes
Actively collaborate within our international, interdisciplinary research community and contribute to translational research at our center
Present and publish research results and attract additional external funding
