JOB DESCRIPTION
Dynasty Power trades electricity, natural gas, and environmental products across the US, Canada, Mexico, and the EU.
Dynasty is active in all the major power trading markets including CAISO, Ontario IESO, ISO-NE, NYISO, PJM, MISO, SPP, AESO, and ERCOT.
Dynasty Power is currently looking to hire a Junior Settlement / Financial Analyst. This position will be accountable for settlements of trading activities across various ISOs in the US and Canada, design and implementation of settlement systems and business processes, and contribution to risk assessment of the trading portfolios.
This role supports trading activities of the power and natural gas desks as it relates to settlements, reconciliation, financial analysis and risk controls.
This is a terrific opportunity for someone who has high attention to detail, an IT acumen and adapts readily to changing priorities and business conditions.
This position is located in our Calgary office.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- University or college degree.
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve and be accountable to resolve issues independently.
- Self-starter with a drive to continuously expand the business initiative.
- Basic project management experience: the ability to effectively plan & execute projects.
- Strong communication skills & ability to develop effective working relationships.
- Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive business user deliverables.
- Proficient in learning to use software, tools, and systems to create efficiencies in daily work.
- Related power or natural gas industry experience is desirable.
- Programming and data science skills are a plus.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Strong communication, multi-tasking, and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Excel/VBA
- Ability to query databases, SQL skills are desirable.
- Data Visualization skills and knowledge of software such as Power BI is a plus.
- Programming in other languages such as Python is desirable

Responsibilities:
- Confirmation, reconciliation, and settlements of energy transactions related to wholesale power and natural gas trading, transmission sales, and purchases.
- Efficient and timely investigations of discrepancies resulting from trading and commercial activities; finding and coordinating solutions through communication with trading and accounting.
- Business process design, system design, automation, and implementation.
- Contributing to risk assessment and risk control of trading portfolios.
- Financial Analysis and Attribution Analysis of the trading portfolios.
- Work independently and as a team player, providing backup, support, and taking on additional responsibilities to contribute to the overall success of the trading floor.
