Description:

The software engineering team at Vital is seeking an enthusiastic and curious software operations engineer to be on-site at our Mississauga, ON headquarters to support the various scientists and engineers there with our research and development systems.
What you’ll do: Solve problems by writing or modifying research and development code and supporting others in its use. Support engineers’ and research scientists’ use of our custom analytic instruments. Diagnose issues with research and development systems, identify patterns and causes, correcting them or collaborating to correct them, and document them. Collaborate with the rest of the software team to improve quality of life and effectiveness in both using and implementing the R&D systems.
Support sustainable engineering processes for a highly complex medical device. What you’ll need: Familiarity with scripting in Python or similar. Proficiency with using Linux. Proficiency with Git.
Interest in and desire to gain proficiency in functional programming. Curiosity and aptitude for learning and problem solving. Good communication skills and the desire to collaborate with a team of good natured professionals in a variety of disciplines. Bonus points for: Experience with or knowledge of functional programming and software development.
Experience with networking and network protocols: TCP/IP, HTTP, JSON. Experience with or knowledge of Nix, Haskell, Scala, or Rust. Familiarity with laboratory environments and in-vitro diagnostics. Appreciation of puns!
