Description:

Luminary ROLI is seeking a talented, innovative, and detail-oriented Junior Sound Designer to join our team for a 3-month contract.
As a Junior Sound Designer, you will focus on creating and refining presets for our flagship software, Equator2, which powers our innovative ROLI instruments. This is an exciting opportunity for a Junior Sound Designer who is passionate about sound design and synthesis and keen on pushing the boundaries of music technology.

WHO WE ARE:

We are a passionate, dynamic team of polymaths who believe in the power of music to change the world.
Luminary ROLI’s mission is to enable more people to experience the transformative power of lifelong music-making. We do this by making the whole process of music learning and practice more inspiring and influential.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Sound Design, Music Technology, Music Production, Audio Engineering, or a related field is desirable but applicants with equivalent professional experience will also be considered. Related certifications from organisations like Point Blank, Icon Collective, Dubspot are also acceptable.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in professional-level sound design, particularly in creating presets for synthesizers or virtual instruments. Equator 2 is a powerhouse that combines additive, sample-based, FM, and granular synthesis, and we are looking for candidates who can utilise these sound sources to create unique + innovative sounds from scratch.

SKILLS:

  • Strong understanding of synthesis techniques, sound design principles, and audio production.
  • Experience with digital audio workstations (DAWs), including at least one that supports MPE, and familiarity with Equator2 or similar software is highly desirable.
  • Creative mindset with a passion for exploring new soundscapes and pushing the boundaries of music technology.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
  • The ability and desire to pick up and understand new software, hardware, and technical concepts quickly.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • A portfolio or demo reel showcasing your sound design work, particularly preset creation. If you can send us original preset files (Massive, Serum, Equator 2, etc) rather than audio, even better.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to take constructive feedback.
