Primary Functions: As a Junior Sustainability Data Analyst at GreenCheck, you will be at the forefront of generating insightful reports and developing engaging dashboards using PowerBI for use within our software platform. Your primary focus will be on analyzing energy, emissions, and sustainability metrics to support our clients’ sustainability journeys. Collaborating closely with internal stakeholders, including consultants, developers, and other business units, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of our data-driven services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- A post-secondary degree in a relevant field such as data science, statistics, environmental science, sustainability, business management, or engineering
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and Microsoft PowerBI, with strong skills in creating complex dashboards and reports
- Familiarity with DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for advanced data modeling in PowerBI
- A problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently and continuously seek improvements
- Strong analytical skills, with attention to detail and a commitment to data quality
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
Preferred:
- Working knowledge of SQL, with an understanding of database management and query optimization
- Experience with additional data analytics tools or programming languages (e.g., Python, R)
- Knowledge of software development processes
- Understanding of sustainability certification and benchmarking programs such as LEED, BOMA BEST, GRESB, GRI, SASB, etc.
- Experience working with advanced Excel features including nested formulas and developing macros
- Certified Measurement & Verification Professional (CMVP)
- Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate for PowerBI
- ISO 14001 Internal Auditor Certification
- LEED Green Associate (LEED GA)
- GRESB Accredited Professional (GRESB AP)
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain detailed reports and dashboards in PowerBI, focusing on energy, emissions, and sustainability performance metrics.
- Assist in the collection, analysis, and management of large datasets related to sustainability and green building performance.
- Collaborate with the Senior Sustainability Analyst and other team members to ensure data integrity and quality across all systems.
- Participate in QA/QC processes to continuously improve data accuracy and system functionality.
- Provide support for the ongoing development and enhancement of GreenCheck’s software platform.
- Occasionally participate in client discussions to provide data insights and technical support.
- Contribute to the long-term development of GreenCheck’s predictive analytics tools, with opportunities to influence the direction of our platform.
