Junior Sustainability Officer
Are you passionate about sustainability and want to make a positive impact in the maritime industry? As sustainability officer you are responsible for praticipating our sustainability initiatives and ensuring that they are integrated into all aspects of the business operations. This may involve developing and implementing strategies to minimize our environmental impact, promoting energy efficiency and waste reduction, and engaging with stakeholders to communicate and promote sustainability efforts. You are also involved in tracking and reporting on key sustainability metrics, as well as staying informed about regulatory changes and best practices in the field of sustainability. Do you have an affinity with project management and ESG topics, or are you willing to gain it in this function? If so, you might be the perfect candidate for the Sustainability Specialist position at Royal IHC.

As a Sustainability Officer, you will report to the Head of Sustainability.

You will be responsible for:

  • Collaborate in the implementation of regulatory compliance requirements that impact our operations, both at Royal IHC and our supply chain (CSRD reporting).
  • Monitoring and reporting on ESG metrics (KPIs) and targets.

  • Collaborate in the sustainability team for developing short- and long-term sustainability strategies for Royal IHC, and to assess, report and communicate the progress on the units.

  • Identifying and promoting best practices and opportunities for improvement in sustainability and the required due diligence aspects.

  • Leading or supporting sustainability advisory activities for internal and external stakeholders.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in sustainability, environmental science, engineering or a related field.
  • Strong interest in sustainability and corporate social responsibility. Preferably up to 3 years of relevant work experience in sustainability or a related field, and willingness to keep learning.
  • Excellent project management, communication and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of sustainability standards, frameworks and tools.
  • A proactive, collaborative and solution-oriented mindset and ability to work in teams.
  • Fluency in English and preferably in Dutch as well.

Selection process:
After your application, there will first be a short phone call with the Corporate Recruiter. Subsequently, the selection procedure consists of two rounds of interviews. The first interview will be with the manager and a direct colleague. During the second interview, a manager from a different department and someone from HR will join. If everyone is enthusiastic, a phone call follows to discuss the terms of employment.
