Description:

Second Street Fund Inc. and related entities own and manage a rental property portfolio consisting of over forty residential multi-family, commercial and retail projects. The properties are located in Alberta, BC, Northwest Territories, Utah, and California. The company also invests in non-real estate endeavors.
This position, with the support of an external senior IT professional, will oversee and manage the company’s IT infrastructure and operations. A combination of help desk duties, system admin and network infrastructure refinement will provide for a diverse set of challenges in a dynamic environment. This role will involve working alongside third party contractors and external vendors to ensure the security and efficiency of all technology systems. Furthermore, this role will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure technology is leveraged for business success.
You will be working with and mentored by an IT consultant with over 25 years of experience. This role will internally report to the CFO.

IT Duties:

  • Provide support to operations with issues with ERP systems.
  • Provide technology support to the entire organization including tier 1 help desk for end user devices, network and software support tickets.
  • Provide basic support for building security system such as access control, surveillance camera, and voice entry
  • Monitor the IT help desk queue and resolve issues during business hours and after-hours on an emergency basis.
  • Ensure a smooth onboarding and offboarding experience for all employees through the deployment of appropriate workstations and user accounts.
  • Setup and maintenance of workstations and other computer equipment throughout the organization, including annual workstation refresh initiatives.
  • Manage the recurring software license renewal process, with updates as needed.
  • Assist in the procurement of hardware to support annual workstation rollover.
  • Create and update business process documents.
  • Create and update documentation relating to network infrastructure setup, inclusive of head office as well as remote sites.
  • Support effective identification, assessment, prioritization and resolution of requests for bug-fixes/enhancements.
  • Understand and support inter-system data quality issues, working with end users and technical teams to resolve these issues and their underlying causes.

Project Management:

  • Alongside other business stakeholders, develop a multi-year IT roadmap for the organization that contemplates network security, future IT trends, and business growth.
  • Annually, in alignment with the multi-year IT roadmap, define the top IT objectives with a complete project plan defining key personnel, project milestones and deadlines, as well as budget requirements etc.
  • Work with third party consultants and vendors to implement various software integrations with our existing ERP systems.

Ad Hoc:

  • Assist in identifying areas for improvement within the IT ecosystem and recommend viable solutions to improve workflows, report preparation and relevant business processes.
  • Training new employees, as required, to make the most efficient use of our software.
  • Microsoft suite of products (including operating systems), support, training.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS



    • Preferred: 2 years of experience working in a similar or related capacity (note that a recent or upcoming graduate will also be considered)

    • Knowledge and practical experience with software implementations, business process re-engineering, and organizational change management
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Flexible, organized, and high attention to detail
    • Able to work independently while recognizing appropriate moments for collaboration
    • Ability to manage projects and coordinate with various staff coming from different disciplines
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Methodical and logical troubleshooting skills
    • Honesty, integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality is a must
    • Good interpersonal skills and ability to lead one-on-one and group training
    • Own a vehicle, can travel to sites in-town and out-of-town
    • Can lift up to 50 lbs

    REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

    A diploma or degree in information management, information technology, business administration, or computing science. Candidate with system administration experience is a plus and we will consider candidates actively seeking to acquiring higher-level knowledge and skills through education and training.
