Who we need:
Reporting to the Director, IT Architecture, the Junior Technical Architect is responsible for support on the IT Architecture team, including technical solutions design, integration specifications, feasibility assessments, proof of concepts and end-to-end documentation. As an Individual Contributor, this position shares junior level knowledge and experience with team members by implementing initiatives and projects; assists with the review of processes, programs, policies and services; identifies ways to improve the student and/or employee experience; supports the management with strategies and objectives; and collaborates with internal key stakeholders, in alignment with our corporate strategic imperatives. This individual will work with other team members, most specifically our current technical architect, and acts as an advisor to management in design and technical feasiblity for projects. Participates in ensuring a working environment where all team members can be their best selves, grow and thrive, to support our corporate mission of championing student success.

What you will do:

  • Providing knowledge on systems integrations and custom development, to support the corporate strategic imperatives.
  • With the support of the senior team members and leadership, leading ad-hoc, small & medium projects within the IT Architecture team.
  • Participating in the review of data, policies, procedures, programs, technologies and resources, and implementation of updates, in accordance with the teams DevOps practices.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional colleagues in development of new integrations, enhancing existing integrations and technical design of custom functionality to support strategic imperatives.
  • Writing new and/or gathering and enhancing existing documentation on all build activities (requirements, technical design, process and data flow, test cases, etc).
  • Knowledge sharing with other staff within the IT Architecture team.
  • Acting as a technical feasibility advisor to management.
  • Contributing to a positive corporate culture that supports equity, inclusion, learning, and wellness.
  • Upholding the integrity of accessible design and data governance, and complies with Acessible Canada Act (ACA) and applicable data privacy legislation.

What you bring:

  • 2+ years of experience in information technology, including experience with technical support, infrastructure and technical project management.
  • Bachelor’s degree, or master’s degree, in a related discipline (or international equivalent).
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Visio, Aure DevOps (ADO).
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and experience in technical and solutions architecture, applications and infrastructure, integration systems and platforms, and application programming interfaces (API’s), including but not limited to, current applicable legislation and compliance requirements, supporting with strategies for short-term goals; sharing of best practices to optimize the student and/or employee experience, in support of the corporate strategic imperatives.
  • Experience working in highly dynamic and fast paced settings and/or organizations.
  • Strong collaborator, business acumen and an ability to work in a complex environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and networking skills, with experience preparing and facilitating presentations; advanced MS Office skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Teams).
