The Junior Trader, Public Fixed Income, is a member of the Fixed Income Trading team who is responsible for executing all of AIMCo’s public fixed income transactions across global markets, including listed and OTC derivative instruments. Reporting to the Managing Director, Head of Cross Asset Trading, you will assist senior team members in managing the Public Fixed Income portfolio. This developmental role is integral in the Fixed Income Trading team and will interact seamlessly with trading peers by providing support for the trading process, adapting in real-time to changing circumstances and market conditions as required.
Responsibilities Include:
- Your primary role is to assist the other traders on the desk as required and to be responsible for market related activities. These activities include trade reconciliation with our counterparties, the maintenance of trading agreements and associated systems documentation, commissions management, and ongoing desk reporting needs. You must be prepared to act as a supervised backup to the other traders on the desk as market conditions warrant.
- Assisting with and executing trading in the associated market exposures of the Fixed Income team.
- Contributing to, evaluating, and being responsible for trade reconciliation and support, including running “what if” analysis on scenarios and monitoring the processes for stability, providing research and recommendations as appropriate.
- Preparing and analyzing trading desk activities and maintaining all necessary files and agreements associated with trading specific applications.
- Conducting preliminary analysis on transactions costs, including flagging information for further follow up, researching and applying appropriate quantitative analysis, and making recommendations as appropriate.
- Modelling new financial products and investment strategies as they develop within both listed cash securities and OTC derivatives.
- Remain vigilant for opportunities to enhance returns within our existing asset class infrastructure through both platform (custodian, prime brokers, collateral) and process (corporate actions, synthetic prime, margin optimization) improvements.
Our Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- Possesses a University degree within Finance, Business, or Economics with demonstrated quantitative experience. Alternatively, a degree in a quantitative field such as Engineering supplemented with an MBA is acceptable.
