Castleglenn Consultants Inc . is a vibrant firm that provides extensive transportation planning experience along with an in-depth knowledge of functional planning, traffic engineering, highway design and project management to Eastern Ontario and Alberta. Our firm has procured assignments ranging from commercial office renovations, research high technology office developments, commercial/hotel development and has undertaken numerous large functional planning and design studies involving roadways, highways and interchanges of Provincial significance.
Job Opportunity
The Transportation Planner duties involves working on every facet of the transportation planning business and becoming experienced in such areas as traffic planning/engineering, operations, solutions development and transportation economics. Some of the typical projects that would involve the Transportation Planner/Technologist include the development of traffic operational plans, the development of functional planning studies, traffic impact studies of proposed retail and residential developments and surveys involving identifying travel demand patterns. The candidate will apply analysis techniques such as signalized and un-signalized intersection capacity analysis, roadway design, report preparation and report writing.
Job Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, organizing and conducting assignments in the field of transportation engineering and transportation planning. The responsibilities will require the individual to work independently on several assignments and produce deliverable products for review.
- Preparation of exhibits for reports, public information sessions and public meetings.
- Generating proposals, report production and gaining a thorough understanding of business administration.
- Undertaking traffic analysis and traffic engineering research.
- Attend project meetings with clients, architects and consulting disciplines
Ideal Candidate
This position that does not require previous related experience, however a demonstrated interest in the field of work and willingness to partake in extensive on-the-job training is expected from the candidate. The following qualifications are desired in an ideal applicant:
- Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or working towards graduation in summer 2025.
- An interest in the field of transportation planning and traffic engineering
- Related experience is not required for this position, but any previous experience (co-op, previous career, part-time work, summer jobs, etc.) is considered an asset
- A motor-vehicle license and access to a personal vehicle is desired as site visits are considered to be an essential aspect of the position.
- A strong background in MSExcel and MSWord is necessary.
- Excellent analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Innovation, creativity, outgoing dynamic personality and an ability to build strong relationships with clients.
- Familiarity with CAD and roadway design software is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with traffic analysis software (i.e. Synchro, SIDRA, Vistro, Vissim, Visum, HCM) is considered an asset
- Bilingualism will be considered an asset (English/French).
