HPDI Technology LP is a joint venture between Volvo Group and Westport Fuel Systems Inc. A clean technology company, headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, driving innovation in clean fuel systems and components for long-haul and off-road applications. Our products and technologies deliver performance, fuel efficiency and environmental benefits to address the challenges of global climate change and urban air quality.
Position Overview
The verification engineer will work closely with product engineers to develop test plans, complete DVP&R activities and analyze results during development of new fuel system components and the application of existing components for new OEM customer programs, as well as supporting resolution of FRACAS issues for current customers.
This is an junior position ideal for recent graduates or individuals with 1-2 years of experience in the field of automotive, verification or related areas.

Position Responsibilities

  • Preparation of detailed verification test plans
  • Execution of verification plans
  • Analysis of test and measurement data
  • Creation of verification test reports
  • Maintaining DVP&R status in Requirements Management system
  • Verification of both system and components
  • Participation in structured investigations of root cause of failure
  • Participation in Design Reviews and DFMEAs
  • Specification of test rigs and fixtures
  • Liaison with purchasing and outside vendors

Health & Safety responsibilities

  • Promote HPDI Technology’s H&S culture following all Environmental, and H&S procedures and understanding your obligations and responsibilities
  • Report unsafe conditions, behaviors and all accidents
  • Co-operate with JHSC (Joint Health & Safety Committee) and Safety representative

Position Requirements

Key Requirements

  • A Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent
  • Experience in development of complex systems involving mechanical and electrical components
  • Good knowledge of thermodynamics, valves, seals, metals and materials
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and data analysis
  • Ability to specify and utilize measurement instrumentation and data acquisition
  • Ability to provide schedule and budget estimates and deliver to them
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Organized and uses time effectively
  • Capable of creative problem solving with a practical approach
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently when required

Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with standard automotive design practices such as Technical Profiles, DVP&R and DFMEA
  • Proficiency in MATLAB
