ABOUT US:

Beechworth Correctional Centre is a Corrections Victoria, minimum security prison for men, located in Northeast Victoria, within the Hume Region of the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS).
Corrections Victoria develops and implements policies, programs, and services to ensure that safe and secure containment of prisoners, and that seek to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.
Corrections Victoria manages Community Correctional Services locations across the state and is responsible for managing Victoria’s public prisons and overseeing the contracts relating to the management of the privately operated prisons. In doing so, Corrections Victoria delivers a safe and secure corrections system that actively engages offenders to promote positive behaviour change and prepare offenders for release back into the community.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Justice Officer role provides accurate and timely administrative and support services to regional locations and staff. The role has a strong focus on service delivery to clients, internal and external stakeholders, and the public.
Client services may include responding to over-the-counter enquiries, providing information and assistance with matters relating to DJCS portfolio, reception duties, coordinating schedules for program areas and delivery of services for prisoners.
Administrative duties may include reception, financial, mail, basic correspondence, human resource duties, fleet and facility duties, maintenance of a range of electronic information and filing systems.
This position will require direct prisoner contact and may involve after hours, weekend and public holiday work, remunerated in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Determination.

SOME OF YOUR DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Providing administrative support and client services relevant to the location.
  • Providing information and assistance to clients, internal and external stakeholders and the public including the collation, review, and processing of applications.
  • Providing reception and telephone responses for the location.
