Description:

POSITIONS IN THIS CLASS ARE EXEMPT FROM THE SCREENING AND REFERRAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES - HUMAN RESOURCES ENTERPRISE.

The responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Handling matters pertaining to delinquent youth, pursuant to Iowa Code Chapter 232, including intake, diversion, supervision, and prevention activities.
  • Making recommendations to the Court regarding detention and custody, conducts pre-dispositional investigations, prepares reports to the court, testifies in court about dispositional and other recommendations, incorporates evidenced based practices into daily work, supervises probation, motivates youth and families and engages them in then change process, coordinates and monitors services provided by various agencies to juvenile clients.
  • Responsible for responding to emergency matters outside of normal working hours.
  • Serves as a peace officer during the performance of his/her duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

A Bachelor’s degree from a four – year college or university in law, criminal justice, criminology, sociology or related social sciences.
Possess personal integrity and emotional maturity.
Successfully complete training requirements set by the Iowa Supreme Court.
Possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license, unless an exception is made.
Candidates must pass a preemployment criminal background check.
