Description:

Essential Attributes:

  • The Mission of the Clerk of Courts has a high degree of public accountability, regular attendance and punctuality is an essential function of this position.

  • Maintain a high standard relating to professional conduct and behavior.
  • Work cooperatively with other employees of the work unit and embrace a teamwork approach to completing tasks.

Essential Tasks:

  • Attend court hearings and maintain accurate record of court orders, notes, or sentencing by transferring information as stated by judges during court proceeedings to a Memo of Court.
  • Support judges, attorneys, and other agencies in the justice system and public as needed, including preparation of evidence lists, court dates, orders, directions, judgments and other documents, administering oaths, distributing copies, as needed.
  • Prepare files before court and perform follow-up support duties that include maintaining court files, docketing court data records, review files for accuracy and clarification, and posting information, as needed.
  • Work after hours, as needed.
  • Perform other related work as required.
  • Being able to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Multi-task as needed.

Minimum Skills/Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited high school or possess an acceptable equivalency diploma.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction and cooperatively with other employees.
  • Ability to communicate well with people from varied backgrounds.
  • Ability to research resource materials.
  • Ability to write correspondences.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage work to meet necessary time requirements and work load.
  • Ability to accurately type 30 WPM.
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail and to remain calm in an anxious, intense environment.
  • Ability to operate a PC and/or mainframe based systems.
  • Proficient use of Word and the ability to learn industry based software.
  • Ability to cover work of other employees to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Ability to remain flexible as conditions change.
  • Ability to make quick, objective decisions.
  • Knowledge of Florida statutes, County and Clerk’s policies and procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
