MŌ TĒNEI MAHI (ABOUT THIS JOB)

We are looking for an experienced Kaiako to deliver our Te Ara Reo Māori programme using the Ako Whakatere methodology and techniques. This permanent, part-time (37.5 hours per fortnight) role starts in in January 2025 and involves teaching one class per week.
Responsibilities include developing lesson plans, presenting material, responding to tauira needs, and evaluating their progress. Rangahau (research) is encouraged for Kaiako delivering this programme. Flexibility to work some weekends and evenings may be required.

MŌU (ABOUT YOU)

We are looking for someone who is fluent in Te Reo Māori and possesses a deep understanding tikanga Māori, and we well-versed in teaching methods that inspire and engage our tauira.

You will bring with you:

  • A Diploma Te Reo Māori or a higher qualification
  • New Zealand Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching (NZCATT L5) or equivalent, or be willing to complete this during their first year of employment
  • Full and current New Zealand Driver’s License
  • Experience teaching Te Reo Māori
  • Experience with Ako whakatere methods of teaching, learning and delivery
  • Proven adult teaching experience

As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) will be key.
