Boeing Defense Space and Security (BDS) is currently looking for a broad range of experience levels including Associate, Mid-Level and Senior Electromagnetic Effects (EME) Engineer (Level 2, 3 and 4) to join the Mobility, Surveillance and Bombers E3 team located in San Antonio, Texas.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILL/EXPERIENCE):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
- Experience or education with electromagnetic theory and advanced mathematics necessary to perform or conduct electromagnetic analysis, design, modeling, and testing
- Experience in wire design OR wire installation
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
- 3 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in an engineering job classification
- B.S Degree or higher in Electrical/Aerospace Engineering or Physics
- Commercial Derivative experience
- Experience in design with consideration to Electromagnetic (EMI/EMC)
- An active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
- Ability to successfully pass a Special Background Investigation
- Hands-on hardware (lab environment) experience with electromagnetics
- Engineering experience with EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility), EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) or E3 (Electromagnetic Environmental Effects)
- Experience with MIL-STD-461
- Understand the various wiring components, wiring design and installation techniques and tools.
Typical Education/Experience:
EXPERIENCED (LEVEL 3)
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Responsibilities:
- Assists in developing and validating Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) requirements and architectures.
- Assists in the development and validation of systems and components to meet requirements and specifications.
- Plan and execute various integration and test activities for customers, team and regulatory agencies to ensure that requirements are satisfied.
- Work (under general direction) to achieve Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of electronics, wiring and structure, proposing E3 design solutions, analyzing expected performance, interfacing with manufacturing for E3 aspects of the designs, defining and conducting tests to validate performance of designs to requirements, coordinate with customers and suppliers, report progress and results verbally and in writing.
- E3 includes the following environments: Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), Lightning, High Intensity Radiated Fields (HIRF), Precipitation Static.
