The Kettle Coordinator position for the 2024 Christmas Kettle Campaign is a short-term contract position. The successful candidate is responsible for oversight of several Christmas Kettle locations in a given geographical zone area. Zone locations include shopping malls, grocery stores and retail outlets.

  • Fixed Term – Part-time
  • November 18 to December 28, 2024
  • Monday – Saturday, 2:00 pm – 8:30 pm or 3:00 pm – 9:30 pm
  • 20 Hrs/Week

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Some high school coursework, completion of high school is an asset

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of one year of related experience or working in customer service
  • Working with volunteers
  • Working or volunteering in a position with leadership responsibilities
  • Working in a fast-paced environment

PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong customer service skills; enjoy liaising and working with people of all ages and abilities
  • Good decision making, organizational and leadership skills
  • Willingness to be flexible and work well under pressure with daily timelines and changing priorities
  • Self-motivation
  • Strong service ethic
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in the handling of donor, volunteer and organizational information
  • Respect and understanding of the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army
  • Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle required
  • Access to email and cellular phone required (allowance provided)
  • Able to lift 9 to 12 kgs (20 – 25 lbs)

Successful candidates, prior to hiring, will be required to provide:

  • Criminal Record Check

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise and support Kettle volunteers
  • Schedule shifts for all volunteers
  • Assist with providing shift coverage for vacant shifts
  • Communicate daily with kettle workers and volunteers for effective transition
  • Communicate daily issues to a fellow coordinator or Corps Officer about supply deficiencies at kettle locations
  • Ensure insurance and confirmation is in place for each kettle location.
  • Attend a day of training/orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign
  • Represent The Salvation Army in a positive, professional manner
  • Expected to work in collaboration with the Corps Officer and other coordinators to accomplish goals.
