ADVERT TEXT:

We are currently looking for a Temporary Kitchen Assistant to join our team to assist in the preparation of high quality varied meals and maintaining hygienic conditions in the kitchen.
The post holder will cover staff shortages within the catering services to the Centre, including absence of the Cook, for which the commensurate grade for the post will be paid.
The hours will fall between 9.00am and 5.30pm on any 5 days out of 7 including Bank Holidays and weekends.
The successful candidate will be responsible for working as part of a staff team in providing high quality catering services to the Centre.

The main duties of the post:

  • To be aware of and to follow all security procedures within the Centre in order to maintain the security and safety of the young people, the staff and the building.
  • To assist the Cook in the simple preparation of meals, eg vegetables, drinks, sandwiches and cooking of chips.
  • To cover in the absence of the Cook - for which training will be provided and to be paid the commensurate grade of the Cook.
  • To undertake the cleaning and of all the kitchen, storage areas, utensils and equipment to ensure high standards are achieved and maintained.
  • To ensure food hygiene and health and safety practices are undertaken to comply with.
  • Removal of waste products and rubbish from the Kitchen.

Ideally, you will have a certificate in Basic Food Hygiene and have experience of working in a commercial kitchen.
