WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

You will have experience and a basic knowledge of food hygiene and food preparation skills. Additionally, you will have the ability to work in a pressured environment as well as an understanding of the importance of ‘Child Protection and Safeguarding’ issues when working in a school setting. Any person working in a school must hold an enhanced DBS check.
The ability to contribute to the development of our school is essential and we believe that energy, passion and a commitment to high standards are key characteristics required. We are looking for a special individual who is able to help inspire and engage the young people that we serve. This is an opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their skills and experience in a challenging, motivating and highly rewarding environment. Previous experience of working in a food environment would be desirable, excellent support skills and the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are also just as important.

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Kitchen Assistant to join our close-knit team at The Wenlock School located in Dudley, West Midlands.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The school kitchen is a very busy and fast paced environment. Your role would involve assisting our school chef with general food preparation, serving and maintaining a clean kitchen environment. The successful candidate will also be responsible for ensuring food allergies/intolerances are carefully considered. A significant role of the position will be ensuring that all pupils and staff are served in a timely manner over the busy lunch period and then ensuring that all tasks are completed to a high standard following the end of the lunch period. These tasks include ensuring that the environment is clean and ready for the afternoon. Part of the role will also be ensuring that all areas are clean and maintained to a high standard following the lunch period.
