Evidence to Care (EtC) is a dynamic award-winning, hospital-based knowledge mobilization (KMb) hub achieved via an agile, multidisciplinary team practicing high-caliber integrated KMb, informed by implementation (IS) and knowledge translation science. Our commitment is to build knowledge, inform decisions and transform practice by accelerating Holland Bloorview’s rise as a go-to-hub in childhood disability, strengthening capacity for everyone to identify and integrate new and existing knowledge into all kinds of their work.

SUMMARY

We are seeking a Knowledge Broker for a temporary 1.0 FTE role, beginning October and ending in June 2025, covering a team member on educational leave. The exact start will be determined based on the hiring timeline.
The Knowledge Broker will work under the direction of the EtC Manager and with team members in activities related to knowledge synthesis and knowledge mobilization. The Knowledge Broker brings an investigative approach to the team, demonstrated through critical thinking, continuous learning and problem-solving skills, with a keen interest in sourcing and synthesizing evidence. The Knowledge Broker uses clear language and creative visuals to develop family or provider facing resources that maximize health literacy, blending strong communication with design to create engaging, accessible materials.
Team members are expected to take initiative, work both independently and collaboratively, handle a variety of tasks flexibly, and stay current on best practices in KMb. This role requires weekly on-site attendance, with some opportunity for remote participation.

EDUCATION

• MA/MSc in a field relevant to childhood disability/pediatric rehabilitation or health-related discipline required
• Knowledge mobilization or translation certificate training from a recognized program (e.g., SickKids, Li Ka Shing, The Centre for Implementation) preferred

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Demonstrated experience in conducting and supporting both rapid and in-depth evidence reviews, and knowledge of systematic and/or scoping review methodology
• Proven ability to synthesize complex information and translate it into clear, accessible formats for diverse audiences
• Experience in developing knowledge mobilization tools, including infographics, fact sheets, handouts, and other educational resources
• Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to critically appraise and summarize evidence from a variety of sources
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in creating materials that convey key messages in an accessible and engaging manner
• Familiarity with health literacy principles and application in communication strategies is an asset
• Proficiency with design tools to build knowledge mobilization tools outputs (i.e., Canva, Piktochart, Adobe) is an asset
• Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary team and partners to ensure relevance and accuracy of materials
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously in an active team
• Flexibility and adaptability in responding to evolving project needs and timelines
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in developing trustworthy and quality products

• Consultations with Knowledge Users: Lead and/or participate in consultations with knowledge users to identify knowledge needs and plan synthesis or product development activities tailored to support evidence-informed decision-making
• Conducting Synthesis Activities: Execute synthesis activities, generating key outputs such as rapid review reports, annotated bibliographies, and concept catalogs that summarize research findings and present key findings
• KMB Product Development: Contribute to the development of knowledge mobilization (KMb) tools, using theories/models/frameworks/and other approaches from knowledge translation/mobilization and related fields
• Creative and Informational Design: Design visual and written materials that prioritize lay language, making complex information clear and engaging for all users and achieving objectives
• Develop Dissemination Plans: Design comprehensive dissemination plans to ensure spread of KMb products to target audiences
• Support EtC Initiatives: Collaborate with teams and partners to contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of EtC’s active projects
