KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to multi-task and prioritise to meet deadlines as and when required
- Organised and methodical approach to work, with a high level of accuracy and excellent attention to detail
- Positive and professional attitude towards clients and all colleagues, with excellent communication, responsiveness and interpersonal skills
- Pro-active, solutions-oriented approach and ability to use initiative intelligently, including knowing when to seek advice
- Ability to implement the above skills in a virtual working environment, working remotely, and be self-motivated in addressing and completing tasks
- Sound level of computer literacy (including Word and Excel)
- Strong interest in and willingness to learn about the energy and infrastructure sectors ideally developed through study or previous work experience
- Prior work experience either at A&O Shearman or another firm, or in an equivalent role in the energy/infrastructure sector, may be an advantage
- A team player, understanding of the need to adapt around others’ workloads
- LPC or SQE is desirable but not essential

DEPARTMENT PURPOSE
A&O Shearman is the world’s leading Energy, Natural Resources and Infrastructure practice. We have, since 2000, consistently closed more transactions in this space globally than any other law firm and are an acknowledged market leader in the infrastructure M&A space.
We advise the most sophisticated sponsors, debt providers, borrowers, project and construction companies as well as governments across a wide array of sub-sectors, including all aspects of power generation and transmission, networks, social infrastructure, transport, telecommunications and energy transition.
We provide our clients with a totally integrated service on all aspects of their infrastructure projects, drawing on and marshalling A&O Shearman’s specialist skills in relation to, among other things, project development, deal-structuring, bankability, equity strategy, M&A debt financing and refinancing (including bank, private placement capital markets, ECA and multilateral), hedging, contracts, construction and regulatory compliance.
ROLE PURPOSE
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a replacement Paralegal to join the ENRI knowledge team in London on a full time, permanent basis. The role will consist primarily of providing support services to the ENRI team’s Knowledge Lawyers and fee earners, both globally and in London alongside an existing ENRI Knowledge paralegal. The role encompasses aspects of project-related loan and acquisition financing as well as project contract documentation, across the sectors we work in.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Knowledge management: assisting with the administration, profiling, updating and online organisation of know-how materials to promote access and collaboration across the department
- Establishing, updating and/or maintaining a number of client-facing and internal knowledge platforms, including organising and maintaining aspects of the online bible library
- Keeping abreast of and implementing system and platform changes
- Collating information to assist with drafting and amending precedents, practice notes and training materials
- Producing, reviewing and proof-reading drafts of articles, documents, internal alerts and client-facing brochures
- Responding to knowledge queries and carrying out legal research
- Assisting with organisation and delivery of internal and client-facing training and events
- Monitoring current awareness resources for relevant developments and working on ad-hoc knowledge projects
- Liaising with the loan finance knowledge team (with whom we work closely) and other practice group and business services colleagues
- Other general paralegal duties and support
