Description:
For our customer, DLR in Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany, we are seeking an L1 Maintenance Engineer to support the Galileo Operations Project.
Responsibilities
The general activities are:
- Maintenance and Administration of the IT platform (Unix and Windows) of the Ground Control and Mission Segments for the 24/7 Galileo mission (preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of unexpected technical issues encountered during operations)
- Administration of user and root accounts on the maintained elements.
- Installation and verification of new and replacement parts in the Galileo Ground Segment.
- Validation of maintenance procedures for deployed GCC hardware & software.
- Performing system tests including interface tests based on defined procedures.
- Development of maintenance procedures for the Ground Control and Mission Segment systems based on existing documentation.
- Documentation of the work and configurations in a ticket system.
- Research and implementation of innovative solutions to improve the IT systems.
- Periodic participation in the 24/7 on call maintenance service (week basis).
This is a full-time position to be located at DLR’s premises in Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany, with the planned start date ASAP.
Qualifications & Competencies
In addition to having a university degree in a relevant field, you shall meet the following mandatory requirements:
- Solid knowledge of various operating systems such as Linux and Windows (Server)
- Linux skills and proficient use of the command line (Shell)
- Understanding of network protocols and database systems.
- Willingness to adhere to strict security policies and regulations.
- Team orientation and the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with other team members.
- Availability to support on-call service and occasional travel to other Galileo sites.
- Fluent written and spoken English is mandatory.
- EU nationality is necessary.
Advantage skills
- Experience in system/network engineering and administration.
- Experience in server infrastructure maintenance (hardware, virtualization).
- Knowledge of ITIL processes and project management.
