Lab Assistant

JOB OBJECTIVES

The Laboratory Assistant provides support to the microbiology laboratory analysts by performing simple preparation and analysis activities. The candidate provides support to the microbiology and/or chemistry laboratory. He may also be in charge of daily and weekly tasks.

PREREQUISITES (AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE WILL BE CONSIDERED)

• Education: High school diploma
• Other (knowledge, skills, etc.):
  Ability to work with a variety of computer software.
  Experience in a pharmaceutical or food field or any type of analytical laboratory will be considered an asset
  Diploma, certificate or attestation of college studies in science will be considered an asset
  Knowledge of French and English, both oral and written

• Provide support to laboratory analysts
• Perform environmental control tests in the factory (air, surfaces and compressed air)
• Prepare culture media
• Prepare solutions
• Perform waste decontamination
• Destroy samples, reagents or solutions
• Operate laboratory instruments
• Perform daily and weekly tasks (calibration of the pH meter, verification of scales, etc.)
• Clean hoods, baths, incubators and refrigerators.
• Sample purified water in the plant
• Document analytical data
• Clean glassware and operate the dishwasher
• Maintain your workspace safe and clean
