JOB SUMMARY

There is a vacancy in the Collections Department for a Lab-based Collections Curator. You will be a member of the Laboratory-based Collections team, reporting to the Laboratory-based Collections Manager; and will be responsible for helping to maintain the highest standards in the management of Kew’s internationally important collections. Specifically, the post will contribute to maintaining and improving Kew’s world class plant DNA and Tissue Bank.

JOB DESCRIPTION

You will be responsible for curating the plant DNA and Tissue collections to international standards, including contributing to identifying priority areas for curation and curation and collection development. This includes data management, further developing best practice of plant DNA and tissue curation, limited extraction of plant DNA from tissue, and some small-scale project management; with the possibility of collaborative projects with colleagues in other Kew Science Departments, assisting with the preparation of reports and journal articles, as required.
You will also carry out some teaching or training activities, together with public engagement activities in the Gardens, to promote Kew’s science.
