Lab Evaluator
Cheltenham/London/Manchester
The Opportunity
NCC are at the forefront of information assurance activities in the UK. We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team of information security professionals as we grow our offering of product evaluation and certification schemes in the UK and across Europe.
The successful candidate will help to evaluate security products and solutions according to defined information security standards and criteria. The right individual will have the opportunity to lead evaluations and grow with us. Training will be provided where necessary and the role will suit people with a range of IT backgrounds.

The Challenge

  • To carry out evaluation activities as directed by the Evaluation Scheme Lead to ensure that both the scheme and regulatory body requirements are being met;
  • To carry out product testing and produce evaluation deliverables to ensure repeatability and consistency of results through the application of the Evaluation Criteria.

Technical and behavioral capabilities

  • Technically fluent;
  • A background in Computer Science, Information Assurance, or equivalent industry experience;
  • A willingness to carry out objective, repeatable testing against defined criteria;
  • An ability to focus on detail;
  • Able to understand technical detail, prioritise information, and identify issues;
  • Able to communicate clearly and write technical reports that may be read by a wide audience;
  • Think critically, outside the box, shows initiative and works independently.

The following additional attributes would be advantageous:

  • ISO 27001 auditor or equivalent background experience in auditing;
  • Knowledge of Certification Schemes such as CPA, Common Criteria, CTAS, or CAS;
  • A background in functional testing or acceptance testing;
  • Knowledge of programming languages;
  • Knowledge/experience of network protocols.
