JOB DESCRIPTION:

Overview: The Lab Lead, focuses on the scientific and technical aspects of laboratory work. This role involves supervising lab personnel, guiding research activities, and ensuring that experiments are conducted accurately and efficiently.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry).
  • Proven experience in a laboratory setting, with some supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.

Responsibilities:

  • Technical Oversight: Supervise and guide laboratory technicians and researchers in performing experiments and using equipment.
  • Project Management: Plan, execute, and monitor research projects, ensuring that scientific protocols and methodologies are followed.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure that the lab adheres to safety regulations, maintains certifications, and complies with legal and environmental standards.
  • Staff Management: Hire, train, and evaluate lab personnel; manage staff schedules and address personnel issues.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and calibration of lab equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition.
  • Training and Development: Train lab staff on new techniques, equipment, and protocols; provide ongoing support and development.
  • Quality Control: Ensure the accuracy and reliability of experimental results; troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with research scientists and other departments to coordinate experiments and share findings.
  • Documentation: Oversee the documentation of experimental procedures, results, and analyses; ensure proper data management.
