Overview:
The Cell Processing Lab Manager is an integral leader within our growing cross-market Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Program.
- The position provides expert guidance to the multidisciplinary team regarding cellular therapy product management.
- Provides leadership in achieving ongoing corporate objectives including quality, financial vitality, employee, and customer satisfaction.
- Key member on or lead Best Practice committees for laboratory services and throughout Novant Health.
- Is a key member who ensures compliance with regulatory agencies, recommends an appropriate organizational structure and personnel plan for the laboratory, assists with the development of an equipment plan for the laboratory and oversees execution of the plan, ensures that service level standards of the laboratory are met and assists with the preparation of and oversee department budgets.

Qualifications:
- Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Medical laboratory science or chemical, physical, or biological science from an accredited university; required.
- Experience:
- Community Hospital Leader: 2-4 years of generalist experience, to include Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Microbiology and Blood Bank; required.
- All Leaders: 8 years of Relevant laboratory technology and/or leadership experience, preferred.
- Must have experience and training in peripheral blood stem cell transplant, CAR-T therapy, flow cytometry, and cryogenics. Must have laboratorymanagement experience.
- Licensure/Certification: MLS (ASCP or AMT), required.
- Additional Skills Required:
- All individuals who are newly certified ASCP beginning January 1, 2004, must participate and maintain ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) through the Certification Maintenance Program (CMP). All individuals who are newly certified AMT beginning January 1, 2006, must participate and maintain AMT Certification Continuation Program (CCP).
- Knowledge of current medical terminology to perform full range of laboratory tasks. Knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing to perform quality control checks and troubleshooting of instrumentation. Knowledge of medical terminology to communicate with medical staff regarding laboratory procedures and results. Skill in performing a full range of laboratory tests. Skill in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency situations. Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, hospital staff and the public. Ability to read and understand information about instrumentation in laboratory field. Ability to follow written protocols. Ability to work independently. Ability to communicate clearly.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as Adobe. Possesses knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
- Additional Skills Preferred: Specialist certification from accrediting agencies. (BB, C, CG, CT, H, HTL, M, MB).

Oversees all aspects of the Novant Health Weisiger Stem &Immunotherapy Lab including processing, cryopreservation, storage, and thawing of
peripheral blood stem cells, lymphocytes, and other cellular therapy products such as CAR-T. Monitors quality assurance activities and compliance
with regulatory entities including FACT, CLIA, NMDP, CIBMTR, and FDA. Responsible for qualification, validation, auditing of all critical processes,
equipment, supplies, and vendors, and proficiency testing. Facilitates creation and maintenance of critical documents such as SOPs, forms,
worksheets, and product labels. Approves technical lab processes and procedures. Manages the cell lab team and team member training and
competency. Continuously communicates with the Clinical Program and Cell Processing Lab Medical Directors. Ensures adherence to workflows to
ensure preservation of chain of identity and chain of custody, and safety, purity, and viability of all cellular therapy products. Maintains cell storage
cataloging, and cell dose and engraftment data. Facilitates expense budgets and authorizes expenditures, and identifies opportunities for
controlling costs and for improving operations.
