Description:
The Lab Manager will oversee the Lab team by providing direction and guidance, assist in monitoring performance, managing staff schedules, and handling performance reviews. This position is responsible for operating machines and analyzing lab results, including running calibrations, quality control, troubleshooting instrument issues etc. This person will also assist our lab staff with various testing in a friendly and professional manner.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Sciences
- Washington State Medical Assistant Certification (MA-C) Preferred
- State of Washington Medical Lab Technician (MLT), OR Lab technician experience with instrumentation and resulting experience: Preferred
- CPR and/or BLS Certification: Required
- 2 years experience in a lab: Required
HEALTH REQUIREMENTS:
- Documentation of Hep A antibody screening.
- Documentation of Hep B vaccination or proof of immunity (titer).
- Documentation of negative TB test.
- PPD skin test or QuantiFERON test completed within the last calendar year.
- Documentation of MMR or immunity status.
- Documentation of Varicella vaccine or immunity status.
- Documentation of TDaP vaccine within the last 10 years.
- Documentation of influenza for the current year.
- COVID-19 vaccinations
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Provides direction and guidance to their team
- Sets clear goals and tactics to achieve team goals
- Monitor team performance and report on metrics
- Manage and coordinate staffing schedules
- Conduct team performance reviews
- Resolve escalated concerns
- Greet patients in a friendly & professional manner
- Perform laboratory testing, manual and automated
- Calibration, QC, troubleshooting instrumentation issues, maintenance, and operations of instruments and manual tests.
- Analyze test results
- Provide patient education as needed
- Clean, disinfect, and maintain organization or all work areas
- Manage and coordinate phone calls, entering of orders and requests for other medical information in a thorough and timely manner
- Assist with investigation and preparation aspects of laboratory QA for all testing types per CLIA regulations
- Maintain EMR and Lab LIS software cache, troubleshoot mismatched patient data issues and assist with resolution as needed.
