360 Labs Initiative at a Glance
The 360 Labs are a new capability that is currently being built up within the Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organization (pRED). The primary mission of this effort is to provide greater access and support for the use of cutting-edge biomedical research technologies by scientists across our discovery portfolio.
Operating as an integrated ecosystem, the 360 Lab environment will deliver core scientific technologies, expertise and enabling activities, as well as facilitate knowledge sharing and learning experiences in close collaboration with our therapeutic areas and functions. Together, these efforts will serve to increase the speed, enhance the robustness and improve the sustainability of our exploratory research and early discovery activities.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Proteomics & Metabolomics Core Technology Platform in the 360 Labs Initiative is seeking to add to its team an experienced, highly motivated, collaborative, and customer-centric lab-based scientific professional with a focus on metabolomics and the application of metabolic profiling technologies to drug discovery. The successful candidate will have a robust background in the life sciences as well metabolomics as well as a high proficiency in leveraging LC/GC-MS technologies to help advance early drug discovery programs by generating insights through the development and application of investigative metabolomics studies. You will work with a sense of urgency as a part of a matrix team, interacting with experts from each of our therapeutic disease areas and functions to advance drug discovery projects, and will participate in the continued evolution of the Proteomics & Metabolomics Core Technology Platform within the pRED organization.

YOUR PROFILE

• You have a PhD degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or related field, with 3-5 years of postdoctoral and / or professional experience focused on metabolomics technology, either in an academic setting and / or the pharmaceutical industry / biotech R&D sector;
• You are a skilled experimentalist with the aptitude to design complex studies including hands-on expertise in liquid / gas chromatography mass spectrometry-based metabolomics, along with a robust proficiency in the operation of modern mass spectrometry instrumentation (e.g. Orbitrap or Triple Quad, and (tims)TOF);
• You have an exceptional competency in metabolomics data processing and analysis, with the aptitude to use common or bespoke software tools (e.g. Compound Discoverer, MetaboScape, Tracefinder, MatLab and R).

• Routinely plan, design and contribute to experiments to develop, optimize and implement either standard or custom untargeted and targeted metabolomics workflows including sample preparation, LC/GC-MS measurement using high-end mass spectrometry, and data analysis;
• Drive the adoption of advanced metabolomics data processing and analysis workflows, ranging from feature detection to metabolite identification including chemical structural elucidation;
• Collaborate with other laboratory and bioinformatics teams to analyze and interpret metabolomics data, be accountable for the timely generation of comprehensive project reports, and engage with stakeholders to present and discuss findings in a dynamic and flexible manner;
• Embrace a continuous learning mindset by actively engaging with the scientific literature to stay abreast of emergent technologies / approaches in the metabolomics field.
