Description:

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possess a Diploma in a Laboratory Science, (such as Chemistry, Microbiology or Biochemistry) its equivalent or relevant experience. Experience or a strong aptitude in the area of Laboratory E-systems is also preferred.

Responsibilities:

MAIN PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:

Responsible for operational and technical support of the electronic systems used to perform analytical testing, recording and reporting analytical test results. The electronic systems include systems such as the laboratory information management system Darwin LIMS, Water’s Empower chromatography system and Biovia’s SmartLab system.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acts as system administrator for E-systems utilized in the laboratory (e.g., Empower, Smartlab, LIMS).
  • Troubleshoots issues related to E-systems performance and the contact for E-systems technical issues.
  • Responsible for updating system data per change control and action item requests.
  • Acts as contact with IT in regard to system upgrades and validation of electronic systems used across the laboratory.
  • Acts as contact to global system representatives. Responsible for tabulating and consolidating systems information for customers and be capable of presenting informal reports of results to immediate supervision.
  • Working with a high level of analytical electronic technologies, may be involved in the qualification of these instruments and in their routine maintenance.
  • Will be involved in deviation investigations and will record any errors encountered, as per procedures and training.
  • Will follow all relevant Environmental, Health and Safety procedures and will be involved in incident investigations as required.
  • May assist in the training of other personnel and as his/her level of skill develops.
  • Recognising the importance of the quality control function in pharmaceutical production, should display a high level of integrity in the performance of his work.
  • Should be capable of relating well to other people with whom he comes in contact, both within and outside of the laboratory area.
  • Knowledgeable of general scientific methods and is capable of learning and executing new techniques and instrumentation associated with electronic systems after appropriate training.
  • May also be requested to partake in or lead area or cross-functional continuous improvement projects e.g., Six Sigma or other appropriate methodology.
