We are looking for a Lab Technician R&D for our Analytical Development Team at Arxada in Hannover, Germany. The Laboratory Technician supports product and process development, optimization, prototype preparations, stability and performance testing as well as customer sampling for the paints and coatings and material protection business lines. Further, the role supports upscaling and piloting activities to accelerate market entry of new, innovative products.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Experimental laboratory work including formulation studies, chemical reactions, physical and performance testing related to biocide products for the marine antifouling and paints and coatings markets.
  • Development and optimisation of cost effective manufacturing processes suitable for multi-tonne commercial production
  • Data generation, i.e. measurement of physical and chemical product properties, followed by interpretation, documentation and archiving of technical results.
  • Writing of manufacturing procedures and reports
  • Qualification of new and alternative raw materials
  • Work as part of the R&D laboratory team, i.e. carry out general team tasks such as laboratory and equipment maintenance, organising raw material supply, waste disposal, etc.
  • Liaise with key functions within Arxada (Analytical Group, Microbiology, Supply Chain, Production, Tech Service, Marketing and Regulatory) on technical issues.
  • Collaboration with external consultants, laboratories and universities

Qualifications & Experience:

  • High ambition to strengthen the safety culture
  • University degree (B.Sc./M.Sc. Chemistry)
  • Very good German and good English skills
  • Experience in R&D and product development in the speciality chemicals industry
  • Excellent understanding of customer applications Ability to translate for the customer
