Job Description:
Position: Lab Technician
Primary Location: North Vancouver, British Columbia
Shift: Monday - Friday work week, 8am – 4.30pm;
Reports To: Senior Process Engineer
Compensation: $61.93/hr + benefits
The CAD hourly rate for this position is $61.93 + benefits. Hourly rates are determined by role, level, and location. The hourly rate displayed on each job posting reflects the starting rate for new hires for the position. Rates may also be determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. More specific rate factors for your preferred location can be discussed during the hiring process, as some facilities are subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements. QUALIFICATION

Knowledge

  • B.Sc. (Chemistry) from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum 5 years analytical laboratory experience.

Competencies

  • Knowledge and experience in the operation of HPLC, IC, GC and ICP would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in method development and procedures documentation.
  • Experience in an industrial plant environment would be an asset.
  • Experience with Quality Assurance Principles and Quality Control Procedures.
  • Capable of moderate lifting and light physical activities.
  • Familiarity with SAP a definite asset.
  • Strong organizational, documentation and computer skills required

Responsibilities:

  • Analysis of production, effluent and final product samples.
  • Sampling of production, effluent, and final product streams.
  • Reporting of test results and analysis.
  • Work closely with operations and shipping personnel to meet testing and reporting requirements.
  • When required, work closely with plant personnel to troubleshoot process issues.
  • When required, prepare chemicals and reagents for use in testing and by plant staff.
  • When required, maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment.
  • Develop methods and document procedures.
  • Train plant personnel on testing procedures.
  • Able to work with limited supervision.
