Lab Tech Student Co-Op/Intern
The Lab Technician Student Co-Op/Intern will be responsible for accurately performing all routine and non-routine shipping, refinery and field samples in a safe and timely fashion.
Where will you work:
Mosaic Potash Belle Plaine is a solution mine and refinery located 50 kilometers west of Regina on the Trans-Canada Highway. It is the world’s largest solution mine that is full of talented people and is home to over 500 dedicated employees.

What will you do?

  • Ensure safety and housekeeping standards by applying the proper chemical handling, sampling and analysis procedures, and safety programs.
  • Plan and perform high quality, accurate, thorough and timely sample preparation, analysis and reporting.
  • Holding/releasing railcars/unit trains/bagged products and ensuring specifications are met during the manufacture and loading of Water Softener, Animal Feed, Industrial and Agricultural products.
  • Analyze and evaluate problems including troubleshooting instrument issues. Making sound conclusions and decisions based on the information available.
  • Work as a team member demonstrating cooperative and team building skills both within the laboratory and with other departments

What is required for this role?

  • Second year or higher pursuing a diploma in Chemical Technology
  • Attention to detail and being able to multitask and prioritize workload.
  • Ability to function in an industrial chemical and mining environment
  • 1-2 years of experience volunteering, working with student/school organizations, or work is required
  • Previous internship or co-op experience is preferred
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license - You will need to be able to travel to and from sites and/or office.
  • Basic computer skills are required
  • Experience working in a team environment is a must
  • Familiarity with an industrial environment is highly desirable
  • Effective verbal communication skills is a plus
  • Physical work environment is occasionally outdoors with exposure to varying degrees of hot and cold environments
  • Selected candidates will be required to successfully complete the following: Post-offer/pre-placement drug and alcohol screening, background check, physical, functional capacity examination.
