EMI North is the first major British record label physically located outside of London. Born out of a desire to boost artists and talented music industry professionals based outside of our capital city; EMI North is committed to investing in an already thriving music scene, finding new talent and audiences, and building their business.
The label is dedicated to supporting the very best local talent in the North of the UK and will provide opportunities to work in the UK music industry. We are planting the flag firmly in the ground without prejudice, and with clear intent and values. This grassroots label will have the ability to attract, nurture and establish northern artists.
The B Side: Skills & Experience
Be Operational
- Support label partners operationally and work to pitch artists for relevant opportunities
- Have a finger on the pulse of emerging music and artists
- Contribute creatively to the EMI North team and label partners
- Provide partner labels with information and guides supporting them to work effectively within the EMI North set up
- Provide reports to label partners where necessary (e.g. physical sales)
- Coordinate release delivery, processing direct EMI North releases and supporting label partners to release
- Arrange artist planning and other meetings as required & book meeting room
- Putting EMI North signings and label partner artists forward for appropriate opportunities
- Metadata management, keeping thorough and detailed records of release related information
- Outreach to appropriate key stakeholders in the industry, building relationships
- Digital marketing updates for planning meetings. Including up to date stats and streaming figures
- Stock orders and arranging stock to be sent for sale on tours. Liaising closely with artist management and tour manager
- Registering the tour dates so that sales at live shows can be counted for OCC chart where applicable and worthwhile
- Responsible for all ticket buys and distribution of tickets
- Generally being flexible and stepping up to offer help wherever it would be useful
Be Administrative
- Assisting in general everyday tasks including – office management, greeting guests, ticket ordering, submitting expenses, paying invoices, travel bookings, co-ordinating meetings, liaising with Managers & Senior level staff
- Assisting in organising and managing team events e.g. Christmas & summer parties
- Assisting in organising gifts for Artists on special occasions such as birthdays and life events
- Responsible for sending regular reports to Artist Relations with all EMI Artist activity included
- Any additional ad hoc duties where requested
Person Specification
Necessary
- Passionate about music with a desire to work and progress in the industry
- Self-motivated, hard-working, and enthusiastic
- Highly organised and able to prioritise
- A track record of working to strict deadlines and maintaining a very high standard of attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office
Desirable
- Experience of working in an office environment & a team
- Experience working in ‘music’ (personal or professional)
