Description:

EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Microbiology) in Tampa, FL. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees. Experienced analysts are welcomed to apply.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology or Biological Science is preferred
Previous spore trap, direct exam or environmental microbiology testing is desired
Some laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting is a plus
Light microscopy, optical mineralogy/petrographic microscope training a plus
Candidate must be able to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
Ability to work independently and with a team
Ability to work in a fast-paced setting, multi-task, and prioritize assignments
Good communication, computer, typing, and organizational skills

Responsibilities:

Preparation and analysis of Microbiological samples (air, water, and bulk materials) for fungi and bacteria
Classical and advanced methods for microbial and bio-aerosol analysis
Cross train in food microbiology and bacterial culturing
Record data in a specified manner
Receive environmental samples and log-in/data entry Chain of custodies into LIMS
system
Review paperwork for incoming samples to ensure completeness and correctness
Make sure all samples are placed into proper storage for analysis
Generate analytical reports and enter data produced by analysts into the LIMS system
for production of final reports to customer
Handle inventory and record keeping
Assist with customer service client questions via phone and email and in person
Clerical duties such as answering phones, filing, faxing, scanning
General laboratory housekeeping including sweeping, wiping down surfaces, cleaning incubators, waste disposal
Cross train in asbestos PLM preparation and analysis
