Description:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related field, or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
- One year of relevant work experience required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with basic laboratory safety
- Experience with basic biology and chemistry laboratory safety practices
- Experience with record keeping and inventory
- Experience working in an efficient and organized manner
- Experience working independently
- Experience caring for small invertebrates and other organisms

- Knowledge of basic chemistry or biology laboratory safety practices
- Knowledge of basic chemistry or biology laboratory tools
- Knowledge of autoclave use
- Ability to keep organized records and manage a laboratory inventor
Responsibilities:
- Managing course supplies and materials. This involves continually monitoring the course materials inventory, coordinating with the Lab Director to meet budgetary constraints, ordering all course materials in a timely manner, ensuring that all course materials are prepared and distributed to the 18-36 sections being taught each week of the semester and ensuring compliance with laboratory safety protocols.
- Evaluating, troubleshooting and improving Laboratory Curricular materials. This involves: researching and devising superior techniques and supplies for the various experiments in the curriculum, amending protocols accordingly, identifying, purchasing and/or coordinating the repair of laboratory equipment and supplies and modifying preparatory staff protocols to reflect any adjustments to laboratory curriculum.
- Interfacing with other outside entities such as:
- Supply vendors and shipping companies to negotiate fair prices and ensure materials and equipment arrive on time and in working order.
- Facilities Management to ensure the laboratory classrooms and preparatory space are in safe and working order
- Research Laboratory Safety Services (RLSS) in order to verify the permissibility of new instructional materials, and to maintain compliance with University safety protocols.
