Responsibilities:

  • Supervise full time and contract Laboratory Technicians in their day-to-day activities ensuring they are following safety procedures, company protocols, and required certified testing procedures.
  • Assists in managing laboratory operating costs with budget of $500,000 annually
  • Visit customer facilities to perform testing in accordance with certified procedures including concrete testing, mortar testing, volume ready mix truck calibrations, and aggregate sampling.
  • Efficiently deliver / pick up samples and products from sites across Ontario in accordance with the needs of the laboratory and the scope of work being conducted.
  • Provides input in research & development proposals and attends meetings & presentations related to them.
  • Facilitates auditing processes as required by CCIL, CSA, OPSS, and ISO to ensure the laboratory maintains its certifications.
  • Trains new and existing customers and staff on concrete testing methods and theories.
  • Sets up laboratory equipment and instrumentation required to perform tests, investigations, research, and/or process control.
  • Tests and analyzes products such as concrete, aggregate and cement for plastic and hardened requirements.
  • Documents results of tests and analyses.
  • Prepares chemical solutions for use in processing materials, following standardized formulas or experimental procedures.
  • Conducts maintenance for the laboratory facility.
  • Plans for efficient use of materials, equipment.
  • Performs statistical analyses and the reporting of cement and concrete performance to identify raw material quality.
  • Completes, maintains, and processes pertinent paperwork and records.
