The Laboratory Support Technician plays a pivotal role in ensuring the overall success and efficiency of the Digital Forensic team. This position is fundamental, as it involves executing essential supplementary tasks within the lab environment that directly contribute to the team’s operational capacity. In this capacity, the Laboratory Support Technician will actively assist the team in adeptly managing their diverse caseloads, which encompasses a variety of responsibilities including, but not limited to, meticulous data handling, comprehensive asset management, and responsive IT assistance.
By providing this critical support, the technician not only enhances the workflow of the team but also helps maintain the highest standards of accuracy and reliability in the forensic investigations being conducted.

REQUIREMENTS

Key Responsibilities for the role include:

  • Data Archiving: Manage and organise data, including transferring, merging, sanitising, and recording, as well as quality checks and returning drives.
  • Asset Management: Label assets, update records, and maintain asset management logs.
  • Data Handling and Storage: Wipe and verify eligible storage devices to maintain data security and integrity.
  • IT and Technical Support: Re-build computer exhibits and provide essential IT support as needed.
  • Stock Monitoring: Track forensic consumables to ensure resources are always available.
  • Quality Compliance: Follow all QMS and ISO procedures, ensuring compliance with ISO27001 and ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards.
  • Process Improvement: Stay commercially aware and suggest improvements to enhance operational efficiency.

Internal training will be provided to facilitate your growth in this role, enabling you to become an expert in the field.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sound academic background.
  • Interest in or experience with IT.
  • Full UK driving licence (desirable).
