Description:

The Natural Resources Institute (NRI – https://www.nri.org/) of the University of Greenwich carries out specialised research, teaching, training and consultancy with a focus on food, agriculture, environment and sustainable livelihoods. NRI’s work is globally respected and has won many awards including a recent Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Further and Higher Education. The Institute is located at the University’s vibrant Medway Campus in Chatham Maritime, Kent.
NRI performs extensive research in Agronomy, Chemical Ecology, Entomology, Molecular Biology, Pest Behaviour, Plant Pathology, Vector Borne Disease and Weed Biology. This work takes place in the Agriculture, Health and Environment Department (AHED, https://www.nri.org/about/organisation-and-people/agriculture-health-and-environment-department).
NRI is looking to appoint a Laboratory Technical Coordinator to support and contribute to research projects, as well as NRI’s activities related in these areas. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will coordinate space availability and maintain the laboratories, controlled environments, and greenhouse facilities in compliance with ISO 9001:2015, industry standards and quarantine regulations. The role will also provide technical support whilst adhering to correct procedures and ensuring a safe working environment. Working as part of a small team, the post holder will facilitate the successful delivery of research projects and laboratory and field teaching activities.
Strong team leadership skills, a proven track record in project management, physically able to do heavy lifting and excellent communication abilities are essential. The successful candidate may have experience of teaching in a higher education environment, some experience of working in the agricultural sector and a track record in relevant research and/or enterprise activities. You will be supported from both the Head of Department and Laboratory and Technical Lead.
