ABOUT US
The Eastman Dental Institute is the leading postgraduate dental institute in Europe and within the department, it has a very strong portfolio of research. One of the main research departments is Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering (BTE), led by Professor Jonathan Knowles. We have a vibrant group of researchers working with a number of academics on a wide range of projects related to the repair and regeneration of hard and soft tissue in the oral environment. BTE is particularly lucky to have some newly refurbished laboratories based at the Royal Free Hospital and within these laboratories, a very large range of leading-edge analytical equipment and facilities. Of particular note are the excellent cell biology facilities and we are also well known for both our spectroscopy expertise and also imaging capabilities.
ABOUT YOU
You must be educated to a degree level or equivalent, in a science discipline. You must be familiar with the laboratory environment and have a good understanding of laboratory health and safety procedures. A knowledge of basic cell cultures and analysis is also required.

Responsibilities:
We are seeking to recruit a Laboratory Technician to support our research and teaching activities in the busy and high interdisciplinary Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering (BTE) department.
The postholder will work alongside researchers and other support staff within the department to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the research being carried out. The postholder reports to the head of department but will also interface with other academic and technical staff where necessary.
‘This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require right to work in the UK to carry out this role.’
Appointment details:
- The post is part time (0.2FTE) and graded at Grade 5, the annual salary ranges from (£31,163 - £34,784 including the London Allowance – Pro rata for part time staff).
- The appointment is available now and is a permanent position.
