Description:
EMSL Canada is seeking a Laboratory Technician (Asbestos) in Mississauga, ON. The technician supports the laboratory analysts by preparing samples for analysis. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum requirement of a High School diploma or equivalent
Bachelor’s Degree in a Life Science: Geology, Microbiology, Biology, Environmental Science, and/or Chemistry background
Must be able to adhere to requirements of the Quality Management System
Candidate must be able to distinguish colors
Must be able to work with analytical balances, biological safety cabinets, filtration manifolds, and must be able to adhere to sterile technique and good lab practices
Good computers skill both in typing and MS Office
Attention to detail, ability to maintain client confidentiality
Able to work independently and with a team
Must be able to work well under pressure and meet short deadlines
Responsibilities:
Preparation of environmental samples (air, water, food and bulk materials) for PLM and TEM analysis
Keep track of lab consumables
Clean and help maintain laboratory glassware and equipment
Assist with sample organization and sample disposal
Communicate with coworkers and management regarding timelines and workload
Record data in clear and concise manner
Maintaining the QA/QC Program and Standard Operating Procedures
Other duties may be assigned to meet laboratory needs
