SUMMARY
AGAT Laboratories is currently hiring for a Laboratory Technician to join our Inorganic Lab working out of our Dartmouth, NS facility. The Laboratory Technician B is the second level position into the laboratory and will work extensively with ICP-MS instrumentation. This position is given direction from the Laboratory Supervisor and assists with administrative and basic laboratory activities.
Schedule: Monday to Friday from 8am to 4:30pm
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary education with a Technical Diploma/Science Degree or equivalent industry experience
- 3-5 years of experience
- Previous laboratory work experience.
- Experience with ICP-MS instrumentation, knowledge, maintenance and troubleshooting is required.
- Basic computer skills with experience with MS office and LIMS.
- Good communication skills and fluency in English both verbal and written.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks within a fast-paced work environment.
- Hand-Eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Mature work ethic, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to lift 25+ pounds on a consistent basis.
Responsibilities:
- Perform basic laboratory procedures including preparation of samples, reagents and calibration solutions.
- Provide general lab support including washing glassware, cleaning work stations and waste disposal.
- Calibrate, operate, maintain and troubleshoot intermediate instruments.
- Compile, verify and validate accurate data records.
- Meet quality assurance and turn around specifications.
- Follow all Quality Control and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Report results.
- Other duties as assigned.
