SUMMARY:

AGAT Laboratories is currently seeking a skilled and motivated Laboratory Technician with experience in Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) working out of our Dartmouth, NS facility. This is a position with a permanent status. The Laboratory Technician will play a crucial role in supporting our research and development activities.
Schedule: Monday to Friday from 8am to 4:30pm

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with GC-MS.
  • Strong understanding of organic chemistry principles.
  • Proficiency in laboratory techniques and instrumentation.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Assisting in the development and optimization of analytical methods.
  • Maintaining accurate laboratory records and documentation.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in method development and validation.
  • Familiarity with other analytical techniques such as HPLC or NMR.
  • Knowledge of laboratory information management systems (LIMS).

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and processing samples for GC-MS analysis.
  • Operating and maintaining GC-MS instruments to analyze organic compounds.
  • Provide general lab support including washing glassware, cleaning work stations and waste disposal.
  • Calibrate, operate, maintain and troubleshoot intermediate instruments.
  • Compile, verify and validate accurate data records.
  • Meet quality assurance and turn around specifications.
  • Follow all Quality Control and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Interpreting and reporting analytical data.
  • Ensuring compliance with laboratory safety protocols and quality control standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
